M&A is the acronym in English for Mergers and Acquisitions, in Portuguese, Mergers and Acquisitions. This is the partial or total purchase and sale of a company. And as this is a merger process between two companies, some important factors need to be taken into account so that the M&A process is effective and that it takes place without major complications.

As in any union, it is necessary to identify what your company needs. Do you seek growth? Business Diversification? Elimination of competition? In an M&A process, there must be synergy between the companies. Therefore, when you have a good definition of what your objective and needs are in a merger or acquisition, it is easier to find a company that has the characteristics you are looking for.

After defining the objectives and finding the company that fits them, it is necessary to negotiate between the parties involved in the process. After all, like any union, it is important to make concessions so that every negotiation is good for both sides. Each company has an identity and it is necessary that, during the M&A process, everything is well detailed and agreed in order for the merger or acquisition to be successful.

A merger or acquisition of one company by another, although it can be advantageous for different sizes and segments of companies, needs to be well thought out. In addition to understanding your business well, you should also take into account the movement of the market and the new structure of the company, since an M&A process affects not only the internal processes of companies, but also their employees and customers.

Like all partnerships, bringing two companies together is a complex process, but that doesn’t mean it has to be difficult. If the steps of defining objectives, finding the company that best suits them and negotiating all the points in detail, the process, be it merger or acquisition, will be carried out in an easy way and will be successful for both sides.
